Sorry about the late update to the Tri-4-life 2015 BIG 7 SWIM Extreme blog, I’ve finally defrosted my hands from the first swim of the series Thurstaston to West Kirby in April.
I’ll start by introducing myself I’m new to the tri-4-life team although many of you will know me or probably know of me…… I’m Andy Thomas and will be updating the blog and Facebook/Twitter for this year’s challenge, along with taking part in the challenges.
So far in this year’s challenge we've had a very successful and highly attended launch party at Taskeys in West Kirby, where the all team members were awarded their 2015 T-shirt, towel and open water swim float also the new members of the 2015 team were issued with team ties Richie Webster, Dave Sands, Bramwell Spencer and most importantly of all Andrew Leighton Thomas.
Following on from this night of celebration the real work started and on the 18th of April we all assembled at West Kirby for the Safety briefing, photo shoot and nervous banter before we made our way to the start at Thurstaston to kick off the icy 2 mile swim back to the West Kirby thankfully I was prepared for the cold armed with my more rotund 2015 figure that I’ve spent the winter perfecting. Stand out performances that need mention are Dave Sands in his first Open Water swim and Caitlin Hanlon who smashed the swim and was the youngest and only female swimmer.
