What an amazing last few days. After Slieve Donard on Thursday, we had an early start to travel to Dublin and Wicklow on Friday, with four bike teams covering the 180 miles in relay format. We just about made our first roadshow of the day on time at 1pm in Mansion House, Dublin with the Mayor and Rotary Club, both of whom were fantastic and really enthusiastic. After this we were able to have a guided tour around Leinster House, a great experience. A quick change and short journey and onto the next roadshow at a Shoreline Leisure Centre in Greystones, with some representatives from Wicklow Local Sports Partnership and the Mayor. After our presentation we were given access to their swimming pool and sports hall, so of course, an incredibly competitive boys vs girls football game happened! The final cycling leg of the whole challenge was taken on by all of our cyclists, all in Herbalife kit, looking very smart and what a great atmosphere there was. We rode into Wicklow as a team, and all had a pint of Guinness, it was amazing for everybody to finish together. Lots of hugging and photos and celebrations followed.
On Saturday, after a bit of a lie-in (first one of two weeks!) we were invited to take part in the Wicklow Harbour Swim in the afternoon, one final bit of activity before our party in the evening. It was a great event and a tide assisted swim saw some 750m PB's being made! In the evening we headed to the Grand Hotel in Wicklow all suited and booted, the men in suits and team ties and the girls in dresses. A lovely meal was served and we had lots of presentations before the band came on, we were lucky enough to have special performances from two team members as well, serious respect to Emer and Steve for taking the microphone! Another special moment from that night was Simon Gee, our cameraman, revealing the trailer for the movie. We saw a 3 minute ish clip and it was phenomenal, it really captured the feel of the trip with the laughs, the emotions and the atmosphere that Tri 4 Life evokes. A great end to an awesome trip.
Sunday, the last day, was just our final journey to Dublin, on the Stenaline ferry to Holyhead, and then back to the Wirral. Some tired faces and bodies but all happy faces! On everyone's behalf we have to thank Liam for another brilliant Tri 4 Life trip, I speak for us all when I say it was an excellent two weeks with ups and downs but with so many magic moments that are unforgettable. Photos are to come.....!
