Loch Lomond, the final swim of the Jean Tinsley MacMillan Challenge. We had a different routine today, this morning at 7am the 7 strongest swimmers set off to swim individually for an hour at a time and get some distance covered. On arrival, we had rain but a very calm lake awaiting us. Caitlin Hanlon, our youngest swimmer, began the day very well at 9am. The rain and dull skies persisted and by all accounts the hardest part of the day was the endless hours waiting on the boat trying to keep warm and dry (impossible!). Weirdly, the water was the warmest we have swam in so far, although it was very black and eery. We had a change of swimmers after 14/15 miles, a chance for some food and drink for the first gang and the start of the challenge for the others. For the last mile, everyone swam together and finished as a team where we toasted Jean Tinsley with Jim, the boat crew and our support crew.
All in all, another successful day and in tough conditions too.
